Two cycho-immersive journeys
Intranssenso
A subject is inducted into a deep state of hypnotic trance. Various
tests and deepening procedures are applied that demonstrate the extreme level
of hypnotic immersion both to the subject and to the
audience. These astonishing tests include a rapid standing induction,
levitation of limbs and catalepsy (the body becomes extremely rigid).
The subject is then introduced in trance into a navigable virtual landscape
encased in a flexible structure through which the subject travels.
The landscape itself is in flux and reconfigures itself as the journey progresses.
The landscape is a configuration of solids and liquids derived from sounds of
inductive voices, and upon approaching different
areas inductive commands are triggered. Each zone elicits a heightened
and alien response within the subject such as nausea and pain, euphoria, nourishment,
extreme cold and age progression. As the journey progresses, the whole
notion of subject/object dissolves as consciousness merges within the unfolding
world. The audience is able to follow the immersive journey on a large overhead
screen.
Each time this is performed, both the trajectory and the outcome are different,
as these are reconfigured by the intersection of the ever varying eductive-scape
with the autonomic nervous system’s responses
to the changing environment. Intranssenso may remain on site so that the general
public may be able to get a feel for this immersive interface.
‘Intranssenso’ refers to psycho-nervous responses that are processed
and manipulated from within an immersive environment, as a feedback loop between
mental processes and a 3-D suggestive landscape. An eversive process
takes place from Psychological to Digital to Analog to Kinesthetic (PDAK) and
back around.
Extranssenso
A subject is inducted into a deep state of hypnotic trance. Various tests
and deepening procedures are applied that demonstrate the extreme level of hypnotic
immersion both to the subject and to the audience.
These tests include a rapid standing induction, levitation of limbs and catalepsy
(the body becomes extremely rigid). A square structure is lowered down
above the subject’s head. The subject receives commands that he/she
acts as a resonating chamber to any sounds he/she hears, allowing the body to
respond automatically to the changing sonic environment. The sounds are
grouped into four and will be derived from commands eliciting four somatic responses.
When the subject begins to sway and move within the space the sounds are triggered,
and the body acts as a feed-back mechanism, itself triggering more sonic emissions.
Behind the subject, is a large screen that projects a visual field that corresponds
to the emitted sounds.
‘Extranssenso’ refers to psycho-nervous responses that are processed and manipulated
from the exterior, through kinesthetic body responses as part of an immersive
environment.
